Want really flat seams?

Then a clapper is what you want! Not a tailor but a quilter? Thats ok... Quilters need flat seams too!  The name comes from the clappers traditional use by tailors but clappers are becoming super popular with sewists and quilters worldwide.

Tailors Clappers have been used for over 100 years to give a crisp sharp press to any seams; quilts, pin tucks, hems or collars…

It works by absorbing the steam applied to a seam, and locking in the heat. As you press down on the seam with the clapper, the pressure sets the seam flat as the fabric cools. Use the clapper either with a spray bottle or the steam setting on your iron (whichever you prefer), give your seam a steamy press, then remove your iron,  press the clapper onto the seam until the area is fully cool. Usually 10 seconds is enough to work its magic!

The images below show a seam pressed open just with an iron on the right and on the left is the seam pressed with a clapper - Flat as a pancake!!!

It weights about 12oz and measures 9 ½” inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide tapered down to 2 inches and is 1 1/2” thick.

Both sides have smooth routed grooves to offer easy handling and is unfinished to absorb the steam better.
