There’s a whole little garden party happening in the Busy Backyard! 🌿 Elizabeth Hartman has packed this cheerful pictorial quilt with garden friends, flowers and foliage, all brought to life with her signature modern patchwork style.

And while the finished quilt looks wonderfully detailed, the construction is classic Elizabeth Hartman — rotary-cut squares and rectangles, conventional patchwork piecing and absolutely no templates or paper piecing. The pattern includes detailed cutting instructions, charts for the pieces in each block and full-colour diagrams alongside the written instructions, so you can work your way through each little garden character step by step.

Busy Backyard is fat-quarter friendly, making it a lovely excuse to dive into your favourite prints and solids and have some fun with colour. The pattern includes fabric guides for both sizes using Elizabeth's Popcorn collection for Moda, as well as a guide for making the quilts with Bella Solids, which I can swap out for Kona Solids if you prefer a slightly more wallet friendly option.
