The freezer paper quilters are rather particular about! 😉

If you've tried ordinary freezer paper for EPP or appliqué and found it a little too flimsy, Missie Carpenter's Ultimate Freezer Paper is worth knowing about. This is the stiffer, more substantial freezer paper developed for Missie's starch-basting technique, giving you templates that hold their shape beautifully rather than bending, shrinking or distorting as you work.

The original pack contains 40 sheets of 8½" x 11" freezer paper, but I have broken the pack down into convenient 20-sheet packs — so you can get your hands on this clever stuff without committing to the full pack.

Why is it different?

Missie's technique uses two layers of freezer paper to create a firm template. The template is ironed to the wrong side of the fabric, the seam allowance is treated with quilting starch and then dried. For EPP, the freezer paper can then be removed before sewing, meaning you aren't trying to stitch around bulky papers as you piece. The same technique can be used to prepare beautifully crisp appliqué shapes.

The paper is firm and durable, with templates reusable 25+ times. It can also be fed through an inkjet or office printer, making template preparation quick and easy. For tracing, use a light box or simply a window.

A little Rainbow Stash note: This is a 20-sheet pack that we have split down from the manufacturer's 40-sheet pack. The original packaging is therefore for 40 sheets, but your Rainbow Stash pack contains 20 sheets.
